ACM Lady Trojans Showcase Dominance with Doubleheader Sweep Against Christendom

[CUMBERLAND, M.d., 4/5/2024] - The ACM Lady Trojans demonstrated their prowess on the softball field with an emphatic doubleheader sweep against the Christendom Crusaders. In two commanding performances, ACM displayed a potent combination of offensive firepower and pitching brilliance, securing victories in both games.

Game 1: A Statement of Intent

In the opening match, held at ACM Softball Field, the ACM Lady Trojans wasted no time in making their intentions clear. Led by the exceptional hitting of Cassidy Drobek, ACM's offense surged ahead with a grand slam in the first inning, setting the tone for the game. Drobek's remarkable performance saw her drive in an impressive 5 runs on 3 hits, leaving Christendom struggling to contain her dominance at the plate. At the bottom of the third inning after Drobek walked, Cessna singled and Nakiya Copes hit a sac fly, each scoring 1 run. Acm tallied 17 hits in the game, Cessna went 4 for 4 at the plated to lead ACM in hits. Richards and Komatz each collected multiple hits and Komatz paced ACM with 3 walks. Backed by Emily Mallow's stellar pitching, which resulted in allowing only one hit over 2 innings, ACM cruised to victory.

Game 2: The Pitching Gem

In the second game of the doubleheader, ACM continued their relentless pursuit of victory, with standout performances once again stealing the spotlight. Cassidy Drobek continued her hitting clinic, driving in another 5 runs, while ACM's offense exploded in the second inning, piling on 8 runs. ACM softball collected 16 hits in the game. Copes, Swain, Cessna, Mallow, and Martinez each collected multiple hits for ACM. Richards paced ACM with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, amassing 14 walks for the game. Copes stole 3 bases in game 2. ACM stole 6 bases in total. However, it was Ryanne Martinez's pitching brilliance that stole the show. Martinez delivered a pitching masterpiece, throwing a no-hitter over 5 innings, striking out eight batters and walking four. Her exceptional performance ensured that Christendom could not muster a single hit, solidifying ACM's dominance on the mound and sealing the victory and the sweep.

As the ACM Lady Trojans celebrate their doubleheader sweep against Christendom, they now turn their attention to their upcoming matchup against the Anne Arundel Riverhawks on April 6th.
