Coach J.R. Perdew serves as Allegany College of Maryland's Assistant Athletic Director for Recruitment, Fundraising & Community Relations, providing leadership in student-athlete recruitment, donor engagement, community outreach, alumni relations, and athletic department advancement initiatives.

As the department's primary recruiting contact, Perdew works alongside ACM coaches and admissions staff to support the recruitment of prospective student-athletes across all Trojan athletic programs. He serves as a resource for future students and their families throughout the recruiting process and is often the first point of contact for individuals interested in learning more about ACM Athletics, campus life, and academic opportunities.

Perdew also coordinates major recruitment initiatives and serves as the face of many athletics recruiting events, including ACM Open Houses, campus visits, and community engagement opportunities designed to connect prospective student-athletes with the college.

In his fundraising role, Perdew leads efforts to generate financial support for ACM Athletics through donor development, special events, sponsorship opportunities, and community partnerships. He oversees the department's annual golf tournament fundraiser and continues to expand fundraising opportunities that directly benefit Trojan student-athletes and athletic programs. Businesses and individuals interested in supporting ACM Athletics through sponsorships, donations, facility advertising, digital advertising, or program-specific partnerships are encouraged to contact Perdew directly.

Additionally, Perdew works closely with alumni, former student-athletes, and community supporters to strengthen connections between ACM Athletics and its rich history. He leads ongoing efforts to identify and reconnect with former Trojans while helping preserve athletic records, historical data, team archives, photographs, statistics, and accomplishments. Former student-athletes with historical information, records, photographs, or memorabilia are encouraged to reach out and assist in preserving and celebrating the legacy of ACM Athletics.

Before returning to Allegany College of Maryland, Perdew spent 30 years with the Chicago White Sox organization as a pitching coach and Assistant Pitching Coordinator. During his tenure, he was part of championship teams in the 1997 Frontier League, 1998 Appalachian League, 1999 Midwest League, 2003 Carolina League, 2005 South Atlantic League, and the 2005 World Series. His teams also captured 14 division championships and three Venezuelan Professional Baseball League division titles. He was recognized as Professional Baseball Coach of the Year in 1999 and 2018.

Throughout his professional coaching career, Perdew worked with more than 400 pitchers and 50 catchers who advanced to Major League Baseball.
During his first stint at Allegany College of Maryland from 1989-1997, Perdew served as pitching coach for the Trojans, helping lead the program to six NJCAA World Series appearances in eight seasons. During that time, 34 pitchers earned collegiate scholarships and 11 signed professional baseball contracts.

A Fort Hill High School graduate, Perdew began his collegiate playing career at ACM, where he compiled a 15-1 record and helped lead the Trojans to a third-place finish at the 1984 NJCAA World Series. He later continued his career at George Mason University, posting a 15-5 record and concluding his collegiate career with an outstanding 30-6 mark.
Prior to coaching, Perdew proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, where he was assigned to infantry, Marine Detachment USS America, and Anti-Terrorism units.

Perdew resides in Short Gap, West Virginia, with his wife and three children.
