Allegany College of Maryland Lady Trojans Secure Doubleheader Sweep Against Westmoreland Wolfpack
The Allegany College of Maryland's Lady Trojans softball team showcased their skill and determination on Wednesday, March 27th, securing victories in both games of a doubleheader against the Westmoreland Wolfpack.
Game 1 Recap:
Ryanne Martinez emerged as a key player in the first game, driving in four runs on four hits to propel ACM to a commanding 14-0 win. Martinez's timely hitting, including two crucial doubles in the 3rd and 5th innings, played a significant role in the Lady Trojans' success. On the pitching front, Cassidy Drobek delivered a standout performance, striking out 10 batters while conceding just three hits and zero runs over five innings.
The Lady Trojans' offense was in fine form, particularly in the 4th inning when they scored five runs on three hits. Makenna Richards, Drobek, and Cathy Cessna led the charge with multiple hits, contributing to a total of 13 hits for the game. The Lady Trojans continued their strong performance in the second game, with Makenna Richards leading the charge with a stellar performance. Richards collected four hits in four at-bats, including two doubles, to fuel ACM to a decisive 13-1 victory. Richards' offensive prowess set the tone early, as she doubled in the 2nd inning and singled in the 5th.
ACM wasted no time in setting up their offense, scoring early in the 1st inning with two singles, followed by additional runs in the 5th inning. Contributions from Nakiya Copes, Cassidy Drobek, and Cathy Cessna helped secure the victory, with the team tallying 12 hits in total. Richards also showcased her speed on the basepaths, stealing three bases throughout the game.
Pitcher Emily Mallow anchored the Lady Trojans' defense, giving up only four hits and one unearned run over five innings while striking out seven batters.
