Hutchinson, KS - Allegany College of Maryland (ACM) proudly announces that its Men's Basketball Coach, Tommie Reams, has been named the NJCAA East District Coach of the Year for 2024. The prestigious award was presented to Coach Reams at the NJCAA Division 1 Men's Basketball Tournament, where he was honored prior to tip-off. This marks Coach Reams' second time receiving the East District Coach of the Year accolade, having previously won in 2019.

Coach Reams' leadership and dedication have been instrumental in guiding his team, the Trojans, to remarkable success this season. Despite the challenges, Coach Reams steered the Trojans to an outstanding 26-8 record, culminating in numerous achievements including the MDJUCO Conference Championship, Region 20 Championship, and East District Championship.

The journey to this prestigious recognition has been marked by a season filled with competitive games, broken records, and, most importantly, unwavering teamwork. Under Coach Reams' guidance, along with assistant coaches Shane Scott and John Turner, the Trojans have consistently delivered exceptional performances, securing crucial victories against formidable opponents.

Key highlights of the Trojans' season include:

  • Record against Division 1 teams: 7-6, with notable victories over Baltimore City, Hartford, and Hagerstown.
  • Notable victories in the NJCAA Region 20 Division 1 Men's Basketball Tournament, including a thrilling overtime win against Harford Community College.
  • Impressive record against ranked Division 2 opponents, boasting a 17-1 record, with victories over teams such as Niagara County Community College, Howard Community College, and Sullivan County.
  • Demonstrating resilience with only two losses at home throughout the season.

Coach Reams' leadership and the Trojans' exceptional performance have not only brought pride to Allegany College of Maryland but also exemplify the caliber of talent and dedication within the team.

ACM congratulates Coach Tommie Reams on this well-deserved honor and looks forward to continued success under his guidance. This was Coach Reams second trip to the NJCAA Division 1 Tournament in his ACM tenure and has an overall record of 170-142.
