Allegany College of Maryland

John Turner serves as an Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at Allegany College of Maryland, bringing a wealth of playing and coaching experience to the Trojans. A standout at Allegany Community College before transferring to Georgetown University, Turner was a key contributor for the Hoyas during the 1988–89 season. His collegiate success led to his selection as the 20th overall pick in the 1991 NBA Draft by the Houston Rockets, where he played during the 1991–92 season.

Following his time in the NBA, Turner built an accomplished professional career overseas, competing for more than a decade in Europe. He played in Italy’s premier Serie A league for several clubs and made his mark as a versatile forward known for his rebounding, defense, and leadership on the court. Today, Turner applies the lessons of his playing career to developing student-athletes at Allegany, emphasizing growth, accountability, and excellence both on and off the floor.
