Sophomore Ziahya Lomax Named ACM Outstanding Female Athlete of Year '24
Allegany College of Maryland proudly announces Ziahya Lomax, Sophomore Forward, recent Honorable Mention recipient on the 2024 NJCAA Basketball DI Women's All-America Teams. Lomax's exceptional performance and leadership have earned her this prestigious recognition as well as others. Moreover, Lomax's academic achievements, including earning a spot on the Dean's list and being named NJCAA Region 20 Student Athlete of the Month in December 2023, further exemplify her dedication to excellence both on and off the court.
Starting for two seasons and assuming the role of team captain this season, Ziahya Lomax has demonstrated her dedication and skill on the court. Averaging a double-double per game with 13 points and 10 rebounds, Lomax has been a consistent force for Allegany College of Maryland. Additionally, her 50% free throw shooting percentage underscores her proficiency on both ends of the court. Leading several statistical categories in Region 20 D1 Women's basketball, Lomax's impact transcended her team's success. Finishing the season ranked 30th in rebounds per game nationally, she has cemented her status as one of the top players in the country. The ACM Athletic Department and Foundation Office is proud to nominate and award Lomax of this award previously held by Jordyn Warnick (2023) from ACM's softball program.
Originally from Martinsburg, WV, and a graduate of Hedgesville High School, Ziahya Lomax will be graduating from Allegany College of Maryland this spring, leaving behind a lasting legacy as a standout student-athlete.
