Allegany College of Maryland Baseball Dominates Double Header Against Delaware Tech Hawks

The Allegany College of Maryland (ACM) baseball team showcased their prowess on the diamond with an impressive double-header sweep against the Delaware Tech Hawks on March 2nd, 2024, at Steve Bazarnic Field. In a display of skill and determination, the Trojans emerged victorious in both games, securing a 7-3 win in the first game and a 5-2 win in the second.

The highlight of the day came from Nazir Mendez, whose powerful swing sent a ball soaring over the fences, leaving everyone still searching for the ball's whereabouts. Additionally, Brady Gavula continued his stellar season by launching his fifth home run, contributing to the team's success with another "winner winner homer dinger."

On the defensive front, Aidan Walker delivered a stellar pitching performance during the start of the second game, tallying three strikeouts and three walks in three innings of work, while maintaining a flawless record of zero hits and zero runs. Behind the plate, Johnny Antonelli and Antonio Bruno provided solid leadership as lead catchers for games one and two, respectively.

Offensively, Konner Pittman proved to be a consistent threat at the plate throughout both games, contributing to the Trojans' offensive output and helping secure the victories.

Despite battling some precipitation, the Trojans remained focused and determined, ultimately outmatching their opponents to maintain their perfect season record, now standing at an impressive 8-0. However, their next challenge looms large as they prepare to face off against the tough squad from Frederick Community College Cougars, who currently boast a 9-1 record and are preseason ranked at 19.

The clash between Coach Heyne and Coach Bennett's squads promises to be a lightning-fast early-season matchup, set to take place Wednesday at 12 and 2 PM at Steve Bazarnic Field. With both teams hungry for victory, fans can expect an exhilarating display of baseball prowess as the Trojans aim to extend their winning streak and assert their dominance in the region.
