Trojans Split Four-Game Set with Cuyahoga Following Walk-Off Win and Tuesday Doubleheader
Game summaries supported by GameChanger.
CUMBERLAND, MD — Allegany College of Maryland baseball completed a demanding four-game series against Cuyahoga Community College (TRI-C) over Monday and Tuesday, showcasing resilience, offensive depth, and dramatic late-game execution while splitting the extended set at home.
The series opened Monday with a scheduled doubleheader, though the nightcap was suspended due to darkness and resumed Tuesday morning ahead of another doubleheader. In total, the Trojans played four games in a span of roughly 24 hours, finishing 2–2 against a scrappy TRI-C squad.
Game 1 (Monday): Early Runs Push TRI-C in Series Opener
Cuyahoga struck early and never relinquished momentum in the opening game of Monday's doubleheader, handing the Trojans a 12–4 loss.
The Triceratops plated runs in each of the first four innings, capitalizing on extra-base hits and aggressive baserunning. A three-run home run in the fourth inning helped TRI-C create separation.
ACM generated offense late when Ryan Hines homered to left field in the seventh, driving in two runs. Hines, Duke Psoras, and Christos Tassopoulos each recorded a hit, with Tassopoulos also finishing with two RBIs.
Game 2 (Monday, Suspended / Resumed Tuesday): Abram Walk-Off Caps Comeback
The second game of Monday's doubleheader provided the most memorable moment of the series. Suspended in the ninth inning due to darkness, the game resumed Tuesday morning tied at nine — and ended moments later in dramatic fashion.
With the winning run on base in the bottom of the ninth, Ben Abram delivered a walk-off single to lift the Trojans to a thrilling 10–9 victory.
ACM's offense surged in the middle innings, highlighted by a five-run fourth. Christos Tassopoulos drove in four runs, including a bases-clearing triple during that frame. Abram and Frank Diaz each tallied three hits, while Theo Kanegae and Isaac Abalo added multi-hit performances.
On the mound, Caden Long was outstanding in relief, firing three scoreless innings to keep the Trojans within striking distance and set the stage for the walk-off finish.
Game 3 (Tuesday Game 1): Psoras, Diaz Power Trojans to 12–5 Win
The Trojans carried momentum straight into Tuesday's scheduled game, using power, patience, and steady pitching to earn a 12–5 win and secure a split before the series finale.
Duke Psoras set the tone early with a solo home run in the first inning, quickly answering TRI-C's opening run. Christos Tassopoulos followed later in the frame with a solo shot of his own, giving ACM control early.
ACM continued to build its lead with productive at-bats in the second and third innings, including a sacrifice fly by Ben Abram, an RBI single from Frank Diaz, and pressure created by patient plate appearances.
Diaz posted one of the top offensive performances of the series, finishing 3-for-4 with four RBIs, while Psoras matched him with three hits, including a triple. The Trojans totaled 14 hits and nine walks.
Christopher Fagot gave ACM a strong start on the mound, working five innings with six strikeouts. Landyn Ansel handled relief duties to close out the win.
Game 4 (Tuesday Game 2): TRI-C Pulls Away in Series Finale
Cuyahoga closed the series with an 11–3 win in Tuesday's finale, jumping out early with runs in the first two innings and maintaining control throughout.
The Triceratops scored three times in the opening frame and added two more in the second to build an early cushion. ACM starter Peyton Brzozowy struck out three batters in two innings of work.
The Trojans continued to battle offensively, led by Ryan Hines, who went 2-for-2 at the plate. ACM was clean defensively, committing no errors, with Danny Defonte recording a game-high seven defensive chances.
TRI-C finished with 12 hits and multiple multi-hit performances to seal the finale.
