Allegany College of Maryland Baseball Opens Season with Doubleheader Victory

The first game of the doubleheader kicked off with a bang, as both teams traded blows early on. After the first inning a 1-1 tie, the Trojans stepped up their game, the Trojans' bats caught fire, and they never looked back. Led by standout performances from Brady Gavula and Sean Cherry, who each blasted a home run, Allegany College of Maryland got a nice preview of the season to come with a nice mixture of freshman and sophomore stand outs.
Contributions came from across the lineup, with key RBIs from Sean Cherry, Brady Gavula (3), Logan Hokuf, Cesar Ibarra (4), Griffin Roussell, and Johnny Antonelli. The Trojans' offense proved to be relentless, capitalizing on scoring opportunities and putting pressure on the Virginia Peninsula Gators defense throughout the game.On the mound, Timmy Jones delivered a stellar performance, securing the win for game one and setting the tone for the Trojans' pitching staff.
Following an exhilarating victory in the first game, the Trojans continued their winning ways in game two, claiming a commanding 5-1 triumph to complete the sweep.
Game two of the doubleheader saw the Trojans pick up right where they left off, displaying their depth and versatility on the field. Led by a stellar pitching performance from Johnny Montgomery, who showcased his unique submarine style.Montgomery's dominance on the mound earned him the win, further solidifying his reputation as a key asset in the Trojans' pitching rotation. The Trojans utilized the depth of their pitching lineup, with five other pitchers making crucial contributions to secure the victory, Allegany College of Maryland stifled the Virginia Peninsula offense and held them to just one run. With a homer from Sophomore Logan Hokuf and Sean Cherry's impact extended beyond the batter's box, as his exceptional base running skills added another dimension to the Trojans' gameplay.
As the Trojans celebrate their successful start to the season, they now turn their attention to their next challenge. On February 17th, Allegany College of Maryland will host their home opener at the newly coined Steve Bazarnic Field. Fans can look forward to an exciting doubleheader as the Trojans take on Lackawanna Community College at 1:00 PM.
