Box Score 2 Allegany Sweeps Dundalk Lions Behind Explosive Offense and Dominant Pitching
CUMBERLAND, Md. — Allegany College of Maryland baseball delivered a complete performance Saturday, sweeping the Dundalk Lions in a doubleheader at home with convincing wins of 19–0 and 5–1. The Trojans combined timely hitting, patient plate appearances, and strong pitching across both games to secure the sweep.
Game 1 – Trojans Break It Open with 11-Run Fourth
Allegany wasted little time building momentum in the opener, scoring in the first inning before erupting for 11 runs in the fourth to pull away for the shutout victory.
The decisive fourth inning featured production throughout the lineup.
Christos Tassopoulos, Manny Cartagena, and
Ben Abram each delivered RBI singles, followed by run-scoring doubles from
Duke Psoras and
Frank Diaz. A passed ball added to the scoring before Trevor Shifflet capped the inning with a three-run home run to right field.
The Trojans added seven more runs in the fifth inning, highlighted by a two-run home run from
Alex Kennell, a sacrifice fly by
Theo Kanegae, RBI walks by Shifflet and Abram, and a two-run single from
Isaac Abalo.
On the mound,
Cayden Robinson set the tone with four shutout innings, allowing just one hit while striking out five.
Caden Long followed with a scoreless inning of relief to preserve the shutout.
Allegany recorded 13 hits in the opener, with multi-hit games from Psoras, Diaz, Kennell, Shifflet, and Abalo. Diaz and Shifflet each drove in three runs.
Game 2 – Roach Dominates as Trojans Complete the Sweep
The second game of the day showcased Allegany's pitching depth as
Keegan Roach turned in a dominant outing, striking out 10 batters over seven innings to lift the Trojans to a 5–1 victory.
Dundalk scored first in the second inning, but Allegany responded quickly in the third. RBI singles from
Dylan Frazier, Trevor Shifflet, and
Ryan Hines plated three runs and gave the Trojans the lead for good.
Allegany added insurance runs later, relying on disciplined at-bats and pressure on the bases. The Trojans drew seven walks in the game and continued to capitalize on scoring opportunities.
Ryan Hines and
Jaden Wilson each finished with two hits, while Frazier, Shifflet, Hines, and Abalo drove in runs.
