Box Score HAGERSTOWN, Md. — Allegany College of Maryland survived a wild postseason opener on Saturday, edging College of Southern Maryland 8–7 in 10 innings to stay alive in NJCAA Region 20 play-in action.
The Trojans built an early cushion with power at the plate, then weathered a late surge from CSM before delivering the decisive blow in extras.

Allegany struck quickly in the first inning as Duke Psoras opened the scoring with a solo home run. The Trojans added two more in the frame, including an RBI groundout by Alex Kennell and a solo shot from Christos Tassopoulos, to take a 3–0 lead. Psoras added an RBI single in the second, and ACM continued to pile on in the third with an RBI double from Ben Abram and an RBI single by Trevor Shifflett, pushing the advantage to 6–0.

On the mound, Christopher Fagot was dominant early. The right-hander went seven strong innings, allowing three runs on six hits while striking out eight, keeping Southern Maryland off the scoreboard through five.

CSM began its comeback in the sixth with a two-run triple by Jeron Morris, then trimmed the deficit further in the seventh. Kennell briefly steadied ACM with a solo homer in the top of the seventh, his second extra-base hit of the postseason, but the Hawks continued to chip away.

Southern Maryland tied the game in dramatic fashion in the ninth, scoring four runs to knot the contest at 7–7, capped by a two-run homer from Tyrese Milliard and a sacrifice fly from Gustavo Okada.
Allegany responded in the top of the 10th. After Christos Tassopoulos reached and moved into scoring position, Trevor Shifflett delivered a clutch RBI single to put the Trojans back on top, 8–7. Ivan Sypa sealed the victory in the bottom half, retiring the side and stranding the tying run.

Offensively, ACM collected 12 hits, including home runs from Psoras, Kennell, and Tassopoulos. Tassopoulos finished 2-for-3 with three runs scored and two walks, while Shifflett drove in two runs, including the game-winner.

The win kept the Trojans' postseason hopes alive and set the tone for what would become a successful day as Allegany advanced by also winning its second play-in game later that evening.
