Tyson Oghene Reaches 1000 Career Points: A Triumph of Talent and Tenacity
(Cumberland, MD) -Tyson Oghene, the dynamic sophomore, reached a significant milestone on Monday, February 5th. Facing off against Northern Virginia in a Region 20 match-up, Oghene showcased the culmination of his hard work and dedication as he scored his 1000th career point.
From the moment he stepped onto the court as a freshman, Oghene's talent was undeniable. His precise shots, and unwavering determination quickly has made him a standout player for Allegany College. Oghene has started most every game in 2 years; only missing one game due to a late weekday class.
Although it was not the night's focus, Oghene seized the opportunity, delivering a performance that only few have reached. Oghene also acknowledged the countless hours of practice and sacrifice that went into reaching this milestone, emphasizing that success is the result of collective effort and dedication. Oghene earned AOTM in Region 20 twice last season; November 2022 and February 2023. Oghene was also named to the NJCAA Region 20 Division 1 All-Region Honorable Mention Team, and 2023 NJCAA Division 1 East District All-Tournament Team.
Oghene currently is ranked among the NJCAA in several categories; 6th in 3PT, 7th in Minutes, 10th in MPG, 7th in Points, 10th in PPG averaging 22.1 and 34th for FT sinking 97 out of 120 as well as double digits scoring the entire season and a double double versus Garrett during the season opener.
With the remainder of the season stretching out before them, Allegany College of Maryland will undoubtedly look to Oghene to lead them to further victories and achievements on the court. Congratulations, Tyson Oghene, on this incredible accomplishment – may it be the first of many more to come.
