Allegany College of Maryland Lady Trojans Softball Team Gears Up for Home Opener
The anticipation is palpable as the Allegany College of Maryland Lady Trojans prepare to take the field for their home opener on March 6th against the Anne Arundel Riverhawks. The doubleheader, set for 1 and 3 pm, promises an exciting showcase of talent and determination.
Head Coach Rick Twigg and Assistant Coach Kayla Dodson are eagerly awaiting the chance to unveil a new and rejuvenated Lady Trojans team. Reflecting on their fall ball season, Assistant Coach Dodson remarked, "We were very successful this fall ball season; we worked very hard and saw a lot of bright spots from our sophomores and from our incoming freshman." This positive momentum has undoubtedly set the stage for a promising spring campaign.
One Lady Trojan to watch for is Ryanne Martinez, whose dynamic skills have caught the attention of the coaching staff. Coach Twigg remarks, "Ryanne is going to be a spark plug for us, and we are very excited to see her be able to showcase her pure athleticism. We are confident at how versatile she is." Martinez's presence on the field promises to add an extra dimension to the Lady Trojans' game.
With a rigorous schedule ahead, featuring 19 doubleheaders, the Lady Trojans are primed for competition. Each game presents an opportunity for growth and development, with the ultimate goal of reaching their peak performance when it matters most.
The regular season culminates in an intriguing match up against Potomac State, a friendly foe with an impressive pedigree. Potomac State's journey to the NJCAA DII World Series last season adds an extra layer of excitement to what promises to be a thrilling showdown.
