Box Score CUMBERLAND, Md. — The Allegany College of Maryland women's soccer team put together an impressive offensive performance Tuesday afternoon, defeating Garrett College 7-1 at the ACM Soccer Complex.
The Trojans wasted little time setting the tone, finding the back of the net just 40 seconds into the match.
Nevaeh Bunbasi opened the scoring with her first goal of the contest to give ACM an early 1-0 advantage.
Allegany continued to apply pressure throughout the opening half and doubled its lead in the 31st minute when
Allie Knieriem scored her first goal of the afternoon. The Trojans carried the 2-0 lead into halftime after controlling much of the play in the opening 45 minutes.
Knieriem struck again shortly after the break, scoring in the 47th minute to push the lead to 3-0. Garrett answered just 35 seconds later when
Ava Hunt found the back of the net for the Lakers, trimming the deficit to 3-1.
The Trojans quickly regained momentum.
Briley Shoemaker scored in the 56th minute before Bunbasi added her second goal of the day less than three minutes later, extending the ACM advantage to 5-1.
Knieriem completed her hat trick in the 73rd minute and added one more goal in the closing minutes to cap a dominant performance. Bunbasi picked up the assist on Knieriem's fourth goal, which came in the 89th minute.
Knieriem finished with four goals to lead all scorers, while Bunbasi contributed two goals and an assist. Shoemaker added a goal as the Trojans received scoring contributions from three different players in the victory.
