ARNOLD, Md. / LA PLATA, Md. – The Allegany College of Maryland men's baseball team wrapped up a four-game road weekend on April 11–12, splitting a Region 20 doubleheader at Anne Arundel Community College before facing a tough College of Southern Maryland squad the following day. ACM showed resilience throughout the weekend, highlighted by strong pitching performances and timely offense in key moments.
Friday at Anne Arundel CC – Series Split
The weekend opened with a Region 20 Division II doubleheader at Anne Arundel Community College.
In Game 1, Anne Arundel jumped out early and never looked back, handing ACM a 14–3 loss. The Riverhawks scored five runs in the opening inning and added runs in every frame from the third through fifth.
Duke Psoras drove in ACM's lone earned run with an RBI double in the fifth, while
Frank Diaz (2-for-2) and
Isaac Abalo each scored. Despite collecting five hits, ACM was unable to slow Anne Arundel's 13-hit offensive attack.
ACM responded in Game 2 with a gritty 4–3 win, snapping back behind a lights-out performance from
Hiroto Kimura, who went the distance. Kimura tossed a complete game, allowing just three runs (one earned) while striking out five over seven innings to improve to 2–0 on the season.
Offensively, ACM erased a 3–0 deficit with four unanswered runs.
Jesus Rodriguez delivered the biggest swing of the game with a two-run single in the fourth inning.
Duke Psoras added an RBI single in the fifth, and
Jaden Wilson capped the scoring with an RBI double. The win moved ACM to 8–6 in Region 20 Division II play.
Saturday at College of Southern Maryland – Close Losses
ACM traveled to La Plata on Saturday to face the College of Southern Maryland in another doubleheader, battling through two tightly contested games.
In Game 1, ACM dropped a 5–3 decision despite taking a late lead.
Frank Diaz plated two runs with a single in the third, and
Theo Kanegae launched a solo home run in the fourth to put ACM ahead 3–2. However, Southern Maryland tied the game in the fifth and pulled ahead with a two-run sixth inning.
Christopher Fagot went 5.2 innings on the mound, striking out three while working through traffic.
Game 2 featured more late drama, as ACM fell 7–4 after leading 4–0 through six innings.
Dylan Frazier powered the offense, blasting a three-run homer in the fifth and adding a sacrifice fly in the seventh for four RBIs on the day.
Ivan Sypa was dominant on the mound, striking out eight while allowing just one run over 6.1 innings. Southern Maryland rallied with three runs in the seventh and a decisive three-run home run in the eighth to seal the win.
