CUMBERLAND, MD — Allegany College of Maryland softball battled against Cecil College on Saturday at the Lady Trojans Softball Field, showcasing strong offensive performances in both games, but ultimately dropped a tightly contested doubleheader by scores of 12–10 and 14–6.

Game 1: Cecil 12, ACM 10 (8 innings)

After a back-and-forth contest that required extra innings, the Lady Trojans came up just short in a high-scoring battle in the opener.

Cecil struck first with a run in the third inning, but ACM answered quickly as Jaynie Simpkins delivered a clutch single in the bottom half to give the Lady Trojans a 2–1 advantage. Cecil regained control later in the game, highlighted by a seven-run sixth inning that gave the Seahawks an 8–3 lead.

ACM responded with determination, rallying late to erase the deficit. Key hits — including a game-tying single by Izzy Echeverria and a triple from Morgan Weimer — pulled the Lady Trojans even in the seventh and forced extra innings.

Cecil capitalized in the top of the eighth, scoring twice to retake the lead and secure the win despite another strong offensive push from ACM.

Weimer paced the Lady Trojans offensively, finishing 2-for-4 with five RBIs, while Simpkins went 3-for-4 to lead the team in hits. Natalie Melby added two hits, and ACM showed patience at the plate, drawing nine walks as a team.

Game 2: Cecil 14, ACM 6

The Lady Trojans came out swinging in game two, out-hitting Cecil 18–16, but a pivotal fourth inning swung momentum in favor of the Seahawks.

ACM tied the game in the first inning on an RBI single by Kayla Hill, then gained additional momentum when Evie Wicks launched a solo home run to left field in the second. The Lady Trojans took their largest lead of the day in the third inning, going ahead 5–3 thanks to RBI singles by Autumn Medina and Raley Nestor.

Cecil responded with a six-run fourth inning, reclaiming control of the game and never looking back.

Weimer led ACM at the plate with four hits, while Medina and Nestor each drove in two runs. Wicks, Hill, Lucas, and Melby all recorded multi-hit performances as the Lady Trojans continued to produce offensively throughout the contest.
