On Sunday, November 16, the Allegany College of Maryland Women's Basketball team traded their sneakers for bowling shoes—volunteering at the Special Olympics Western Maryland Bowling League Semi-Finals. The event was part of the annual Regional Bowling Tournaments held across the state, bringing together athletes from Allegany, Carroll, Garrett, and Washington counties.
Hosted at White Oak Lanes in Cumberland, the semi-finals featured 117 athletes competing across 24 lanes, creating an atmosphere full of excitement and community spirit. The ACM women's basketball team played a vital role as lane assistants and lane marshals, ensuring the event ran smoothly and supporting athletes every step of the way.

Jeff, Vice President for Special Olympics, expressed his gratitude for the team's involvement:
"I actually texted our volunteer director and told her I wish we could have the AC basketball team at all of our events!"
"I'm so proud of our team for stepping up and giving their time to such an incredible organization. Volunteering at the Special Olympics Bowling Semi-Finals was a chance for our players to connect with the community and support athletes who inspire us every day. This experience reminds us that leadership and teamwork go far beyond the basketball court." — Head Coach LaRae Allen
This partnership reflects ACM's commitment to service and inclusion, showing that teamwork extends far beyond the court. By volunteering their time, the women's basketball team helped make the semi-finals a memorable experience for everyone involved.
