Allegany College of Maryland Men's Soccer Team Secures First Win of the Season Against Potomac State

Cumberland, MD – The Allegany College of Maryland (ACM) Trojans men's soccer team celebrated their first victory of the season with a thrilling 4-2 win over border rival Potomac State on September 10, 2024. This win marks a significant milestone for Coach Pratt, who notched his first win for the men's program since taking the helm this season. Notably, Coach Pratt previously served as the head coach for both the men's and women's soccer teams at Potomac State.

Sophomore Nathaniel Klemm, an Allegany High School alum, delivered an outstanding performance, scoring a hat trick with three goals against Potomac State. Klemm's second goal was assisted by Maylin Gubny, showcasing excellent teamwork. Another Allegany High alum, Caedon Wallace, contributed to the scoreboard early in the match with an unassisted goal and an assist on Klemm's first tally.

Potomac State's efforts were led by Dominic Nhema and Mateo Miranda, who each scored in the second half. Despite their efforts, the Trojans' defense, anchored by goalkeeper Peyton Thomassy, held strong. Thomassy made an impressive nine saves out of Potomac State's 14 total attempts on goal. On the other side, Potomac State's goalkeepers Levi Carrington and Jordan Lang made eight and four saves, respectively.

With this victory, the Trojans improve their record to 1-3. They are set to face Frederick Community College on Thursday. Frederick, coached by former ACM Trojans Head Coach Dustin Wise, holds a 2-3 record and is coming off a 6-0 loss to Harford Community College Fighting Owls.
