Allegany College of Maryland Men’s Soccer Team Enters NJCAA Region 20 Division II Postseason Tournament

Cumberland, MD – October 23, 2024 – Allegany College of Maryland's men's soccer team is set to compete in the NJCAA Region 20 Division II postseason tournament. Following a competitive season, the Trojans have secured the 8th seed and will face top-seeded CCBC Essex at Dundalk tomorrow at 4 PM.
 
On Monday evening, Catonsville defeated the College of Southern Maryland (CSM), improving their record to 3-5-2 and moving into the 7th seed. This result finalized the seeding for the tournament, with Allegany College of Maryland holding a overall record of 2-9-3 and division record of 2-7-3. The Trojans have scored a total of 28 goals this season, showcasing their offensive capabilities.
 
Leading the pack is sophomore Nathaniel Klemm, who is ranked 12th overall in Region 20 with 9 goals (8 in conference). Freshman Caedon Wallace has also had an impressive season, scoring 9 goals, ranking 13th overall (9th in conference.) Both players are proud graduates of Allegany High School in Cumberland, Maryland.
 
This season marks the inaugural year for Coach Mo Pratt at the helm of the Trojans, alongside assistant coaches Jody Glass and Joey Oyer. The 15-man squad is determined to take on the top-ranked CCBC Essex. The last meeting between the Trojans and the Knights was just last week in Cumberland, resulting in a 2-0 loss for the Trojans. CCBC Essex scored with goals from Luke Wise (assisted by Taichi Nogami) at 51:12 and Yutaro Aikawa (unassisted) at 75:08.

Seeding Procedure:
The seeding for the tournament was determined based on the following criteria:
  1. Record vs. Region 20 divisional opponents (first game only
    1. Head-to-head results used to break ties in criteria #1
  1. Record vs. teams in the tournament
  2. Record vs. common divisional opponents
  3. Record vs. common opponents
  4. Results against other NJCAA opponents
Higher-seeded teams will wear light-colored uniforms.
The Trojans are ready to give their all in the postseason, and they invite fans and supporters to come out and cheer them on as they take on the challenge of the tournament.
