CUMBERLAND, Md. — Allegany College of Maryland celebrated its
Spring 2026 Commencement this May inside the legendary
Bob Kirk Arena, honoring a historic graduating class that included
34 student-athletes—the largest in program history, surpassing the record set in Spring 2025 of 32.
This milestone class represents the very best of ACM: dedication, resilience, and the ability to succeed both academically and athletically.
A Legacy of Balance and Achievement
Representing sports across campus—baseball, softball, soccer, basketball, volleyball, and cross country—these student-athletes proved that success does not require choosing between the classroom and competition. They earned degrees and certifications in programs including Applied Technical Studies, Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Nursing, Computer Science, Multimedia Technology, Legal Studies, and General Studies. Several graduates were also recognized for academic excellence as members of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.

Whether you are from Allegany County, the surrounding region, or beyond, you are supported here—and you can do both. Not every athlete's path leads directly to a large university or national spotlight. That does not mean your journey has to end. At ACM:
- You can continue competing
- You can keep improving
- You can stay active in the sport you love
- You can earn a meaningful degree
Whether your goal is advancement, fitness, passion, or simply not being ready to walk away, opportunities exist here. Do not let anyone tell you that you cannot do both. ACM student-athletes prove every day that success in academics and athletics is possible.
