Softball Goes 3-3 in 4 Days; Sweeps Penn Highlands

ACM Softball Battles Through Three Doubleheaders in Four Days

The Allegany College of Maryland softball team embarked on a challenging stretch, playing three doubleheaders in just four days. The team showcased resilience and skill as they faced off against Pennsylvania Highlands and CCBC Catonsville, with a final doubleheader against Corning Community College scheduled for today.

Day One: Dominant Performance Against Pennsylvania Highlands

In the first doubleheader, Allegany College of Maryland demonstrated their prowess with two commanding victories over Pennsylvania Highlands.

Game 1: Allegany College of Maryland 12, Pennsylvania Highlands 0

Allegany College set the tone early, scoring two runs in the first inning. The team exploded in the third inning, adding seven runs to their tally. They continued their dominance with three more runs in the fourth inning, securing a 12-0 victory. Kayla Hill earned the win, improving her record to 4-1.

Game 2: Allegany College of Maryland 17, Pennsylvania Highlands 6

The second game saw Allegany College continuing their offensive onslaught. Despite Pennsylvania Highlands scoring six runs, Allegany College responded with a nine-run second inning and a six-run third inning. The game ended with a 17-6 victory for Allegany College. Brylee Bateson secured the win, bringing her record to 2-0.

Day Two: Tough Battles Against CCBC Catonsville

The second doubleheader against CCBC Catonsville proved to be more challenging for Allegany College.

Game 1: CCBC Catonsville 12, Allegany College of Maryland 4

Allegany College started strong with three runs in the first inning. J. Simpkins singled to center field, bringing Natalie Melby home, followed by Kayla Hill's two-RBI single that scored Jaynie Simpkins and Ryanne Martinez, giving Allegany a 3-0 lead. However, CCBC Catonsville quickly responded in the second inning, scoring two unearned runs due to an error by the third baseman.

Allegany College added another run in the fourth inning with Makenna Richards grounding out to second base, allowing Brylee Bateson to score. Despite this effort, CCBC Catonsville tied the game in the fourth inning with R. Nace's RBI triple and K. Musgrove's RBI single.

CCBC Catonsville took control in the sixth inning, scoring seven runs, including home runs by C. Barth and A. Watts, and capitalizing on multiple errors by Allegany College. The game ended with a 12-4 victory for CCBC Catonsville.

Game 2: CCBC Catonsville 17, Allegany College of Maryland 0

The second game was a tough outing for Allegany College, as CCBC Catonsville dominated from the start. CCBC Catonsville scored nine runs in the first inning and six runs in the second inning, securing a 17-0 victory. E. Fagan earned the win for CCBC Catonsville, while Ryanne Martinez took the loss for Allegany College.

Day Three: Doubleheader Against Corning Community College

Allegany College of Maryland faced Corning Community College in their third doubleheader of this grueling stretch. The team showed determination and skill in their efforts.

Game 1: Allegany College of Maryland 8, Corning Community College 7

Allegany College's lineup delivered a strong performance, with notable contributions from several players:
