Trojans Sweep Rival Allegheny in Home-Opening Doubleheader at the Baz

CUMBERLAND, Md. — The rivalry may be spelled differently, but the intensity is the same every year. And on Saturday afternoon at Steve Bazarnic Field, Allegany College of Maryland made a clear statement, sweeping visiting CC of Allegheny County in a dominant doubleheader performance to move to 6–2 on the season.

Behind a complete-game one-hitter from Cayden Robinson in Game 1 and a 13-run offensive explosion capped by Aidan Munsie's grand slam in Game 2, the Trojans controlled every inning of their home opener and fed the crowd the kind of baseball that only the Baz can deliver.

Next up? One of ACC Baseball's early-season marquee matchups: Frederick at the Baz on March 12th. Bring the popcorn.

GAME 1 — Allegany 2, CCAC 0

Robinson Fires a One-Hit Shutout

Game 1 belonged entirely to sophomore right-hander Cayden Robinson, who turned in one of the most dominant pitching outings of the young season. Robinson tossed a complete-game shutout, allowing just one hit, walking only three, and striking out an electric 10 batters over seven innings.

He retired hitters with a mix of elevated fastballs, late-breaking sliders, and consistent pitch tempo that never let CCAC breathe. The Chasers managed only one baserunner after the third inning.

Offensively, Allegany broke through in the fourth.

  • Dylan Frazier led off the scoring with a ringing double, later scoring the game's first run.
  • Frank Diaz drove in the second run with a scorched RBI double of his own.
  • Jaden Wilson added a key RBI, and Duke Psoras posted a pair of hits to set the tone at the top of the order.

Defensively, the Trojans were flawless—zero errors, crisp infield play, and a composed battery of Robinson and catcher Theo Kanegae that controlled tempo from start to finish.

Final line for Robinson: 7.0 IP • 1 H • 0 R • 10 K • 0 ER

A masterpiece.

GAME 2 — Allegany 13, CCAC 6

Aidan Munsie Delivers the Grand Slam That Blew It Open

If Game 1 belonged to the pitching, Game 2 belonged to the offense.

The Trojans came out swinging, hanging five runs in the first, one in the second, and two more in the third to create instant separation. Eleven different players reached base, and four different Trojans recorded multi-run games in a relentless offensive attack.

The Moment of the Afternoon

In the fifth inning, with the bases loaded and the Bazarnic Field crowd buzzing, Aidan Munsie turned on a pitch and obliterated it over the left-field wall for a grand slam, blowing the game wide open and sending the dugout into a frenzy.

Munsie finished with: 2 runs • 1 hit • 4 RBI • HR • SB

But he wasn't alone in the offensive showcase:

Allegany swiped nine bases in the game and capitalized on CCAC mistakes (2 errors, 2 passed balls, 4 HBPs).

Pitching Carousel Closes the Door

Starter Keegan Roach battled through four innings for the win, striking out five.
Relievers Esmanyel Esquea Mella, Caden Long, Landyn Ansel, and Diego Gil navigated the middle innings to secure the sweep.

Final score: 13–6, Trojans.

THE STORY OF THE DAY

Two games, two very different styles—but one message:

This Allegany team can win in multiple ways.

They can dominate on the mound (as Robinson proved), and they can outslug opponents with power, speed, and depth (as Munsie and the offense displayed).

With early momentum and a 6–2 record, the Trojans now prepare for one of their most anticipated matchups of the season: Frederick, March 12, at the Baz.

This rivalry always delivers. And if Saturday's sweep is any indication, Allegany is more than ready.

Bring the popcorn.
