Cumberland, MD — January 18, 2026 — Allegany College of Maryland welcomed young athletes from across the region on Sunday, January 18, for a highly successful youth softball clinic held inside Bob Kirk Arena. The two-hour clinic, designed for players ages 5–12, connected the next generation of softball players with ACM's coaching staff and current student-athletes for an afternoon of hands-on instruction and fun.
Led by Head Coach Rick Twigg, the clinic provided participants with personalized guidance in hitting, defensive fundamentals, throwing mechanics, and base-running basics. ACM student-athletes assisted throughout the event, offering small-group support and demonstrating proper technique to help campers build confidence and develop new skills.
"We love hosting this clinic every year because it gives us a chance to work directly with young players in our community," said Coach Rick Twigg. "Our team enjoys mentoring these athletes, and the energy the kids bring creates a great environment for learning the game."
Campers were reminded to bring their own bat and water, arrive early for check-in, and fuel up beforehand so they could fully participate. Families filled the stands as the young athletes moved through a variety of stations led by ACM's staff and team members.
The clinic reflects ACM Softball's ongoing commitment to fostering youth development and strengthening community ties through accessible, high-quality athletic programming. Additional clinics and camp opportunities will be announced later this year.
