CUMBERLAND, MD — The Allegany College of Maryland women's soccer team delivered a dominant performance Tuesday afternoon, shutting out Howard Community College with a 9–0 victory at home.

Sophomore forward Ava Sipes led the offensive explosion, scoring four first-half goals and assisting on another to teammate Emma Komatz (Mountain Ridge). Sipes' goals came off well-placed assists from Komatz, Nevaeh Bunbasi (Fort Hill), Larna Crist, and Brylee Gray (Mountain Ridge).

"She has the combination of technical ability, speed and strength to get in behind and do damage to any defense in Region 20," said ACM head coach Mo Pratt. "We hope today's performance gives her the confidence to do just that."

The Trojans (2–2–1) saw additional scoring from Allie Scritchfield (Calvary) and Bunbasi, both unassisted, while Komatz added a goal of her own off a feed from Madelyn Richardson. Emmy Wilson (Calvary) capped off the scoring with two unassisted goals in the second half.

ACM controlled possession from start to finish, firing 41 shots while holding the Dragons (0–6) to zero attempts on goal. The Trojans' defense was airtight, earning a clean sheet and allowing no offensive threats.

"Howard is struggling, but for us to come out on zero days rest, control possession and create opportunities is a good sign of growth and development for us," Pratt added. "Not only did we earn the clean sheet, we allowed zero shots."

Howard goalkeeper Bella Buscher recorded 22 saves in a valiant effort.

The Lady Trojans return to action Monday at 3 p.m., hosting Hagerstown Community College at home.

Follow the team all season long and stay connected with ACM Athletics.
