The Allegany College of Maryland Women's Soccer team delivered a statement win on Saturday afternoon, avenging their regular season loss with a thrilling 3–2 victory over CCBC Essex at CCBC Essex Stadium. The win propels the Lady Trojans into the Region XX semifinals, where they are expected to face Anne Arundel on October 29 at Howard Community College.
The Trojans wasted no time getting on the board, as Ava Sipes struck early in the 4th minute to give ACM a 1–0 lead. The momentum continued into the second half when Allison Scritchfield found the back of the net in the 58th minute, doubling the lead.
With the pressure mounting, CCBC Essex responded with a penalty kick goal by Mackenzie Celenza in the 70th minute. But ACM answered back just ten minutes later, as Emily Wilson netted the eventual game-winner in the 81st minute, assisted by Brenly Herschberger.
Essex made a late push, scoring again in the 86th minute through Melat Abrham, but the Trojans held firm to secure the win and punch their ticket to the next round.
Statistically, ACM made the most of their chances, scoring 3 goals on 8 shots on goal from 11 total attempts. Essex outshot the Trojans with 28 total attempts and 14 on goal, but ACM's defense and goalkeeping stood tall, recording 12 saves — 5 in the first half and 7 in the second.
Corner kicks were close, with ACM earning 3 to Essex's 5. Both teams committed 8 fouls, but the match remained clean with no cautions or ejections.
This victory marks a significant milestone for the Lady Trojans, showcasing their resilience, teamwork, and ability to rise to the occasion. With standout performances from Sipes, Scritchfield, Wilson, and Herschberger, ACM heads into the Region XX semifinals with momentum and confidence.

Earlier last week, the Trojans faced powerhouse Anne Arundel Community College in a highly anticipated rematch. Unfortunately, the Lady Trojans fell 0–4 in a tough battle.
Anne Arundel's relentless attack produced 33 shots (24 on goal), while ACM managed five shots — all on target. Despite the scoreline, Genesis Alvarez was a standout in goal, recording an incredible 20 saves to keep the Trojans in the game.
Anne Arundel's goals came in the 28th, 53rd, 54th, and 68th minutes, with Emma Miga, Riley Sheets, Alyssa Simms, and Maddie Raynes each finding the back of the net. ACM's defense, led by Brylee Gray, Larna Crist, and Sierra Campbell, battled throughout the match, while offensive efforts from Emily Wilson, Ava Sipes, Nevaeh Bunbasi, and Scritchfield kept pressure on Anne Arundel's back line.
