CUMBERLAND, MD — Allegany College of Maryland (ACM) sophomore and Allegany High School graduate Riley McCutcheon made history on Saturday, October 18, by scoring five goals in a single match against Carroll Community College. The Trojans dominated the contest with a 7–0 shutout at the ACM Soccer Field, marking one of the most decisive victories in recent program history.
McCutcheon's performance is believed to be the first five-goal game by an ACM men's soccer player since 1980, when Dennis Debus accomplished the feat under legendary head coach Darrell Blank. Blank led the Trojans through a golden era in the 1980s and 1990s, fostering a culture of excellence and camaraderie that still resonates within the program today.
The October 18 match saw McCutcheon open the scoring just under five minutes in, assisted by Alex Forbes, and he completed his hat trick before halftime with a penalty kick in the 25th minute. He added two more goals in the second half, bringing his season total to eight goals. Forbes, Gavin Clayton, and Jace Patton each contributed assists, while Forbes and Caedon Wallace (header) also found the back of the net.
The Trojans outshot Carroll 28–3, with 18 shots on goal and six corner kicks. Goalkeeper Levi Carrington recorded a clean sheet with two saves, while Carroll's keeper was tested throughout the match, making 11 saves.
