McCutcheon's performance is believed to be the first five-goal game by an ACM men's soccer player since 1980, when Dennis Debus accomplished the feat under legendary head coach Darrell Blank. Blank led the Trojans through a golden era in the 1980s and 1990s, fostering a culture of excellence and camaraderie that still resonates within the program today.

He added two more goals in the second half, bringing his season total to eight goals. Forbes, Gavin Clayton, and Jace Patton each contributed assists, while Forbes and Caedon Wallace (header) also found the back of the net.

The Trojans outshot Carroll 28–3, with 18 shots on goal and six corner kicks. Goalkeeper Levi Carrington recorded a clean sheet with two saves, while Carroll's keeper was tested throughout the match, making 11 saves.
