RIDGELEY, WV — Allegany College of Maryland Cross Country kicked off its 2025 season at the inaugural Catamount Classic, hosted at Frankfort High School, with both the men's and women's teams competing in their first meet of the year.
In the women's 6K, sophomore Emily Smith (Automotive Technology) led the Lady Trojans with a strong performance, placing 6th out of 15 runners with a time of 35:20.60. Freshman Summer Kreydatus (Multimedia Technology) followed closely behind, finishing 11th in 37:22.35, showing promise in her collegiate debut.
On the men's side, ACM competed in the 8K race. Jace Patton placed 17th out of 21 runners, clocking in at 44:12.43, while Luke Turner finished 21st with a time of 56:04.45, rounding out the Trojans' effort.
Head Coach Will Giles praised the team's resilience and effort in their season opener:
"This meet gave our runners a chance to shake off the rust and set a foundation for the season. We're proud of their grit and look forward to building from here."
The Trojans will continue their fall campaign with upcoming meets across Region 20, aiming to improve times and gain experience as the season progresses.
