Steve Bazarnic Named to ABCA Hall of Fame Class of 2026

Cumberland, MD – Allegany College of Maryland's legendary baseball coach, Steve Bazarnic, continues to make history. After being honored earlier this year with the NJCAA Coaches Legacy Award, Bazarnic has now been named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Hall of Fame Class of 2026, cementing his place among the most influential figures in collegiate baseball.

A Year of Recognition

In January, the NJCAA announced its first-ever Coaches Legacy Awards, presented by Nufabrx, recognizing the all-time winningest coaches in NJCAA history. Bazarnic was among nearly 200 coaches nominated across 28 sports—a testament to his impact on the game and his unmatched tenure at ACM. The award was presented during a special luncheon in Charlotte, North Carolina, preceding the NJCAA Hall of Fame and Awards event.

Now, Bazarnic's name joins an elite group in the ABCA Hall of Fame. He will be formally inducted during the 82nd annual ABCA Convention in Columbus, Ohio, on January 9, 2026.

A Legacy of Excellence

Bazarnic founded ACM's baseball program in 1972 and led the Trojans for 47 seasons, compiling an extraordinary 1,469-617 (.704) record, ranking fourth all-time in NJCAA coaching wins. Under his leadership, ACM captured nine district championships and made nine NJCAA World Series appearances, building one of the most successful junior college baseball dynasties in the nation.

His influence extended far beyond wins and titles. Bazarnic developed 54 MLB draft picks and six Major League players, including John Kruk, Stan Belinda, and Steve Kline. His commitment to player development and academic success shaped generations of student-athletes.

Honors and Impact

Bazarnic's accolades include:

  • NJCAA Coaches Legacy Award (2025)
  • Maryland Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame (1991)
  • NJCAA Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame (1996)
  • NJCAA Region XX Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame (2000)
  • Steve Bazarnic Field dedication (2023)

Reflecting on his impact, ACM Athletic Director Tommie Reams shared:

Current ACM Baseball Head Coach Mason Heyne added:
