On Saturday, October 19, 2024, the Allegany College of Maryland (ACM) cross country team traveled to Gettysburg College to participate in the annual Aubrey Shenk Invitational. This prestigious event, now in its 35th year, honors the legacy of former assistant and head coach Aubrey Shenk, who dedicated 31 years to the Gettysburg Cross Country Program and the college community. The invitational, named in his honor, features a challenging course that is mostly flat with gentle rolling hills, primarily on grass and dirt/gravel, with one road crossing.
In the women's 6,000m varsity race, Emily Smith finished 185th with a time of 29:23.8, while Ava Weicht secured the 202nd position with a time of 33:33.3. The event showcased the dedication and hard work of ACM's athletes as they competed against a strong field of runners. The women's race began at 10:00 am, followed by the men's 8,000m varsity race at 11:00 am.
